Coffeehouse community at your fingertips.

It started with a single cup and brewed into a lifestyle.

The inspiration for Brew’d came from my personal journey into “good” coffee. For a long time, coffee was a means to an end. Long days and late nights in the kitchen made caffeine a must. But over time, I discovered a good cup of coffee can deliver the same depth and joy as a great craft beer or fine wine.

In a quest to learn more about coffee and how to brew the perfect cup, I turned to the internet only to be oversaturated with influencers and undersaturated with quality information. This led me to the idea of the virtual coffeehouse: a place that filters away influencers and brews community instead. Brew’d is a combination social media and shopping platform that focuses on experience and quality products rather than image. It’s a place to find out what others are brewing, how they are brewing, and where to find and buy roasts similar to the ones you like.

Connect with coffee

Brew’d is a community driven space for coffee lovers, both new and well-brewed, focusing on craft, connection, and finding the perfect brew. This digital cafe helps people connect to discover new beans and brewing methods and also shop the products. By stepping away from likes and follower counts and eliminating the pressures of traditional social media, Brew’d focuses on what truly matters: the coffee in your cup and the people who brewed it.

The digital cafe

Connect and brew with people from all over the world in the palm of your hand. Brew’d is a combination social media and shopping platform. With photos and text boxes, users can share their daily brew and methods. Info pages, links to beans, and an online shopping platform allow users to learn more and purchase specific roasts, as well as see other products that are similar to ones they like.

The goal was to make an all-in-one design to help the user move from live feed to information to shop without having to open multiple webpages or apps and get lost along the way. The bento box design in the search page helps guide the users’ eye along the page and keeps them interested with various sizes of photos that other users have posted or potential new beans that are available in the shop.

Discover. Extract. Brew.

Flow seamlessly through the app discovering what your friends are brewing, buying those beans, and perfecting the brew in your home cafe. Being able to link beans from your post to the ones in the shop to purchase makes moving throughout the app simple, and ultimately makes the user journey effortless by eliminating the need for multiple websites or apps.

Brew’d Sticker Sheet

Every color and font choice was inspired by the art of coffee. The color choices span the full brewing spectrum from the deep dark shot of espresso to the warm, golden crema that forms at the top, and even the softer tones of a latte. For the typography, the brand name uses the Danfo font style, chosen for its fluid style to capture the aesthetic of steam rising from a freshly brewed cup of coffee. To help balance this style, the Satoshi font style is used throughout the rest of the app to give a minimal but high-end feel of a specialty coffee roastery.
